Play Nautilus by the “auto first, hook second” rule: if you are already in range, passive auto, W reset, then E, and save Q for entry you actually need instead of spending it before the trade has asked for it
Use R like a line through the fight, not just a targeted knockup—if a support or tank is screening the carry, ulting that front body can clip the carry on the way through and give you the cleaner full chain
Treat your health bar as hook permission: once poke takes away your walk-up passive threat, max-range Q starts acting like self-CC, so reset or move on a real base timer instead of trying to repair lane with another forced hook; recent data also says Nautilus keeps more value from behind than roam-reset supports like Pyke
When the lane is poke-heavy, stop measuring success by whether you found a hook and start measuring whether your walk-up still means anything. If your health bar is too low for passive threat to matter, max-range Q usually makes the lane worse, not better. Use brush only when it actually restores pressure, preserve HP for the first real contact window, and be willing to reset or move on a base timer instead of forcing a repair play. If they ever misstep into auto range, that is your cleaner start: passive first, then W reset and E, with hook kept for the part of the trade that actually gets contested.
Nautilus' first Attack against a target deals increased physical damage and roots them briefly.
Nautilus hurls his anchor forward. Colliding with an enemy pulls them and Nautilus together, dealing magic damage. Colliding with terrain pulls Nautilus towards it.
Nautilus gains a temporary Shield. While it persists, his Attacks deal damage over time to his target and surrounding enemies.
Nautilus creates three exploding waves around himself. Each explosion damages and slows enemies.
Nautilus fires a shockwave into the earth that chases an opponent. This shockwave rips up the earth above it, knocking enemies into the air. When it reaches the opponent, the shockwave erupts, knocking his target into the air and stunning them.
